Preacher’s Comments:

Anyone who has faithfully proclaimed God’s Word and has refused to compromise, knows by experience the vicious attacks, slanderous remarks and persecution they must face.

To many onlookers this is too high of a price to pay, so they seek the middle of the road or they put into practice false love, all for the reason of escaping criticism and personal attacks. The result is many lost souls and many misled people.

Today I want to share with you some wrong attitudes and actions that may be the response of those who succumb to such pressures.

These actions are referred to by the spineless as the easier way. Although I wrote these points several years ago, I have changed the title and added scriptures beside each point.

IT WOULD BE EASIER…

IF we practiced sprinkling instead of immersion for baptism. Col 2:12; Rom 6:4; Act 8:38

IF we preached from Reader’s Digest instead of from God’s Word. Acts 8:12,35; II Tim 4:2

IF we incorporated activities of the world in our church services rather than try to remain

spotless and have only Christian activities. I Jn 2:15-17; I Cor 14:40

IF we put any man who is well liked up for elder or deacon rather than strive to follow

God’s plan in our selection. Acts 14:23; Titus 1:5-14; I Tim 3:1-13

IF we had just social get-togethers on Wednesday and Sunday nights rather than study

the Bible. II Tim 2:2,3,15

IF we never preached on controversial subjects and preached a watered down, middle of

the road message. Phil 3:18,19; I Cor 2:1,2; II Cor 4:2-4

IF we didn’t continually point out that Christians are not to forsake the assembly of

themselves together – meaning all assemblies. Heb 10:24-26; Mt 6:33; I Tim 4:8

IF we didn’t continually point out to all the leaders – elders, deacons, Bible school,

teachers, preachers --- that they should set a good example in visitation, calling,

attendance and all around Christian principles. I Tim 4:12; I Pet 5:3

IF we simply forgot our youth. Eccl 11:9; Eph 6:4

TO watch TV, go for drives, site seeing, etc., and let others do the work of the church,

than to become involved. Phil 1:27

TO have the Lord’s Supper once a quarter or maybe not at all, instead of weekly as is

the New Testament example. Acts 20:7; Acts 2:42

TO follow the example of others and just quit the church because feelings were hurt,

because they are discouraged, etc. I Cor 16:13; Heb 3:6,14

TO praise the sinner and never point out his sins. Eph 5:8-13; I Cor 5:1-11

TO talk to others and about others than to talk to God and about God. II Cor 12:20

TO complain unceasingly than to get involved and try to make things work. Jude 14-19;

I Cor 10:7-11

Yes, from the worldly mind I believe it would be easier BUT IT WOULD BE WRONG.

II Cor 5:11; Acts 20:26,27; I Tim 1:1-7

This list could go on and on, but do you see the point? We have too, too many who take the easy way and just won’t admit it’s the wrong way. How about you?

Love you,

Art
