Giants Among Us
2 Samuel 21:15-22
Introduction: The Old Testament scriptures give multiple accounts of giants living in various places and times. For example....
1. Genesis 6:4a
2. Numbers 13:32,33
3. Genesis 14:5
4. Deut 2:10,11,20,21
5. Deut 3:11
6. Joshua 11:21,22
7. 1 Samuel 17:4-11
..........And there are still giants among us today.
Proposition: Let's notie some of these giants among us today that we must conquer.
I. These giants belong to one family
A. Ancient family
B. An ungodly group
C. A very selfish group
D. They are numerous, mighty,and very destructive family.
II. These giants are known by different names.
A. Here is a list of some of them from Gods's Word
1. Matthew 15:19
2. Galations 5:19-21
3. Colossians 3:5-9
B. Let's notice four of these giants more closely.
1. Pride - Jeremiah 13:15 Obadiah 3 & 4 Proverbs 16:18 James 3;6
2. Falsehood & Deceit - Proverbs 6;16-19, 12:22 Revelation 21:8
3. Hatred or ill will - 2 Samuel 21:19 1 Chronicles 20:5
4. Dishonesty - Exodus 20:15,17 Hebrews 13:5,6
III. The giants among us must be fought against and overcome.
A. How can we conquer them?
1. By faithfully following "The Captain of our Salvation"
2. By using the full "Armor of God" Ephesians 6:10-17
3. By constantly being alert, watchful and praying. Ephesians 6:18
4. By having a confident assurance of victory, inspired by the many promises of God's Word
5. Also, by the success which has already be achieved.
Conclusion; There are giants among us and we must fight them and slay them! If you are not a Christian, why wait? If you know what you need to do and are ready to make a decision won't you come as we sing our song of salvation.
