A Corinthian Catastrophe ~ Infancy
1 Corinthians 3:1-4
Introduction:
A. The necessity of the New Birth. John 3:1-7
B. God's plan is birth, growth and maturity.
(Question ~ How can we recognize spiritual infancy?)
I. The spiritual infant is concerned about self rather than service.
II. The spiritual infant is concerned with argument rather than action.
A. Philippians 2:1-4
B. 2Thessalonians 1:3,4
C. James 3:14-16
III. The spiritual infant looks to people rather than to the master.
Conclusion:
A. Three things the spiritual infant needs:
1. Look to Christ
2. Begin building
3. Remember the judgement seat of Christ
4. Christian ~ Turn to Jesus, He alone can comfort. Matthew 11:28-30
B. Peter urged his reader to "grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord" 2Peter 3:18
C. The Hebrew writer urges growth or one may fall away. Hebrews 6:1-6
D. Paul warns that if we remain children we could be "tossed to and fro with every wind of doctrine." Ephesians 4:14
