what to expect when visiting

We look forward to seeing you this week!

Before you visit:
1.  Pray to God.  He wants you to seek Him.  He and His church are always ready to welcome you.
2. Check out our Calendar and Contact pages for service times and directions.

Sunday Morning (8:30, 9:30, & 10:30):

Welcome:
1.  You will be welcomed at the door by greeters.
2.  They will give you a welcome packet filled with information about the church.
3.  There are classes for all ages from nursery through adult.

8:30 - 9:15 am  Fellowship
Coffee and donuts are available each week before our morning Sunday School.

9:10 am  Morning Prayer
You are welcome to join us in this time of prayer.  We meet in the overflow room adjacent to the auditorium for a 5 minute prayer time.  We pray for the activities of the day and for any special requests that may come up from week to week.

9:30 - 10:15 am  Sunday School
1.  If you come during our 9:30 Sunday School, someone will direct you and your family to the appropriate classes.
2.  At 9:30, one of the men will deliver a brief encouraging devotional as a Sunday School opening.  Youth 1st - 12th grade sit with their families during this opening time but nursery, toddler and preschool children are in their classes prior to this.
3. Once the opening is concluded, the 1st - 12th grade youth leave with their teachers to go to their classes upstairs.
4.  If you desire to learn more about the Bible and the Christian life, this is a valuable time each week to do just that.

10:30 - 11:30 am  Morning Service
1.  Welcome and Announcements
2.  Singing - We sing a variety of hymns and choruses.  The Bible says that the words we are singing should teach, encourage, and admonish those who are participating (Colossians 3:16).
3.  Communion - A devotional thought will be given after which we will offer communion.  This is done every week as was the pattern of the early church and what we read in the Bible.  Unfermented grape juice and bread are offered to help us reflect on the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross.  The emblems will be passed and each individual takes his/her own piece of bread and a small cup of juice.  We hold the bread and the cup and partake of them in unison. I Corinthians 11:20-34
4.  Giving - Another devotional thought will be given, and then the offering plate is passed to provide an opportunity for all to give back to God as He has blessed us.  There is no command in the New Testament as to how much we should give but we should remember that we are under a law of grace through Christ.  We have a much better covenant than those who lived under the Old Covenant and were commanded to give 10% as a tithe.  We are told in the New Testament to give cheerfully and not out of compulsion and the principle of a tithe is a great example for us to follow.  Nothing that we give could ever repay the debt that we owed to Christ for His sacrifice on the cross.  However, the church would not be able to carry out its mission to seek and to save the lost in Monroeville and throughout the world without these offerings.  I Corinthians 16:2; 2 Corinthians 9:7
5.  Junior Church - Directly following the offering time, youth 1st - 6th grade are dismissed to Junior Church to learn a lesson from the Bible designed specifically for them.  Youth 7th - 12th grade remain in the main worship area to hear the sermon. Nursery, toddler, and preschool children stay in the the same classes they were in for Sunday School.
6.  Sermon - One of our evangelists will deliver a sermon.  You will always hear a message directly from the Bible.
7.  Invitation - At the end of every sermon, an invitation is given so that no one will leave without hearing what the bible says about how to become a Christian.  To learn more about how to become a Christian and to read more about what the bible teaches concerning salvation, please read our "What the Bible says about..." page.  We also have a great video in the media section that covers the question, "What must I do to be saved?"  (Click here to watch the video)

Sunday Evening (6:00 pm):
6:00 pm - 7:00 pm     Worship & Youth Groups
1.  Adults - The worship service follows a similar format as Sunday morning.  Communion is offered for anyone who was unable to partake during the morning service.  There is also an offering time.  There are different hymns and choruses as well as a different sermon delivered by one of our evangelists.
2.  Youth - 1st - 12th grade meet all together for their own singing time.  Communion will also be offered for any who was unable to partake during the morning service.  After this opening time together, they split into two separate classes (elementary & teen) for a lesson.
3.  Nursery, Toddlers, & Preschool - There are separate classes for these age groups.  They are in their classes before the start of the service time.  A nursery worker will be available for infants.

Wednesday Evening Prayer Meeting & Bible Study (7:00 pm):
7:00 pm - 8:00 pm     Prayer Meeting & Bible Study
1.  Adults - Every Wednesday evening the adults meet in the fellowship hall for a prayer meeting and bible study.  The prayer requests of the church are discussed and prayed for and then one of the evangelists will lead an in-depth bible study.  We cover various topics including books of the bible, cultural issues, apologetics, other religions, etc.
2.  Youth - 1st - 12th grade.  There are separate classes for elementary and teen youth.  They have a time of prayer and a lesson as well.
3.  Nursery, Toddlers, & Preschool - There are classes for these age groups as well.  They are in their classes before the study time begins.  Nursery workers will be available for infants.

All of our adult staff, leadership, and youth teacher/volunteers have the appropriate required state child abuse clearances as well as state and federal background checks as required by law.  In addition, many of our youth workers are certified to administer CPR and First Aid/AED and have extensive experience working with youth in the church. We desire to create a safe and encouraging environment where our young people can confidently learn about the truths of God's word.
